Our3Q – Social Giver, Thailand

Benz – the owner of the Social Giver – a social enterprise in Thailand operating like Groupon. Customers can buy products and services (e.g. accommodation in a hotel, a meal in a restaurant etc.) via the website. Almost the entire income goes to support a specific NGO (a defined percentage remains in the Social Giver Company, providing it profits and the capacity to act) instead of to a particular hotel or restaurant.


Q1: What do you appreciate yourself in the business mainly for?

For creating an idea in which everyone wins: customers because they buy something they would need to buy anyway, contributing to a social change; NGOs because they have additional source of money, independent of external financing; and the companies that take advantage in the area of promoting and CSR.


Q2: What is the biggest challenge/ obstacle for you now?

To find enough customers. At the moment we have business partners who have offered us their products and services, we also have non-governmental organizations and first investors, but we need more regular customers who will give us financial independence.


Q3: What advice do you have for yourself in this situation?

To open to tourists too. Until now, we have been focused mainly on the inhabitants of Thailand, and perhaps these are tourists who should become our most important target group.
