Our3Q – GreenWays, Singapore

Muriel – founder of GreenWays.  Vision of the enterprise is to be the global reference portal and platform connector for accommodations, businesses/organizations and travelers that care about our planet. The present project focuses on matching hotels which need to get rid of some stuff with NGOs which may need this kind of material donations. It allows both to follow the 3R rule: reduce, reuse, recycle. 

 

Q1: What do you appreciate yourself in the business mainly for?

For the successful pilot of our project. A lot of good stuff was donated and it is really reused by different organizations. Tracking the actual usage is one of our commitment, it allows us to show impact measurements. 

 

Q2: What is the biggest challenge for you now?

We need more funds to bring more members to the platform. It’s not about convincing anyone because everybody is convinced already. It’s a win-win solution. Right now we need just money and time to make it happen. 

 

Q3: What advice do you have for yourself in this situation?

Connection with all eligible entities, networking, talking about the program. Which again requires time. We will have some interns to help us with that, in future we hope to hire somebody from marginalized group.

 

Would you like to add something else?

After 16 years in the corporate world I decided to quit and follow my dreams of making impact. But how to do it? After the initial market research we realized that there are a lot of hotels which would like to be greener. And there are more and more travelers who want to travel responsibly, make a difference, but they don’t know where to start. From the very beginning we wanted to focus on the hospitality industry. It affects biodiversity, communities, natural resources, everything. Right now we are focusing on proposing hotels greener way – instead of throwing away their used stuff, like furniture, blankets, towels or hiring somebody to sell it, they can donate it to organizations which may need it. After talking with many hotels we know they like this solution and want to join us.
